Living Blue Bangladesh (2018)

In August or 2017 I traveled to Dhaka, Saidpur, and Rangpur, Bangladesh to study and document CARE’s social enterprise, “Living Blue,” a workshop and atelier of local artisans producing indigo, other natural dies, and handmade textiles. Out of my experience speaking with the artisans about their lives, history, and families, I began to research child marriage in Bangladesh and how the age of marriage corresponds to the likelihood of a Bangladeshi girl or woman finishing school. Advocacy Activities at Georgia Organics (2019)

I’ve always been interested in growing food as I grew up with a Master Gardener mother - who was also the Director of Extension at Virginia Tech. Working in the restaurant and service industry as a young adult made me aware of how good, clean food can be medicine for your body. Volunteering with Slow Food Atlanta has shown me how social justice is a critical part of food and nutrition security. With these interests in mind, I researched Georgia Organics’ nonprofit advocacy efforts to fight for organic food in Georgia and our communities.

Building Arts Audiences in the Nation’s Capital (2014)

George Washington University Textile Museum (2014)

As the long standing DC institution of The Textile Museum merged with The George Washington University Museum, the Museum Studies department at GWU collaborated to propose social media marketing engagement opportunities for the new University museum. The team synthesized research about social media trends and the museum's prospective audiences and conceptualized activities to mediate visitor engagement challenges, such as the museum's "No Photography" policy.

Art History in Cortona, Italy (2010)

As an undergraduate English major, I spent a Spring studying with UGA’s Lamar Dodd School of Art in Cortona, Italy. I studied Italian for four years during undergraduate school and then again when I worked as an Au Pair in Genova, Italy after college. During this study abroad, I worked on my Italian language skills and also studied Art History, Studio Photography, Creative Writing, and English Literature of the Grand Tour. My research during the semester focused on Piero della Francesca’s Legend of the True Cross fresco cycle found within the Church of San Francesco in Arezzo, Italy, which I had the opportunity to visit and study often during the semester.
